About kundalini

What is kundalini?

In the yoga and tantra traditions, kundalini is described as a quiet energy resting, coiled, at the base of the spine. The word comes from Sanskrit, and it means "coiled." Many people first feel it as a sensation, or as a question that won't leave them alone.

Where it comes from

For centuries, yogic and tantric texts have spoken of this coiled energy, each tradition with its own language. The practice was passed from teacher to student long before it had a name in books.

Its place today

Today many people meet kundalini through yoga, meditation, or a curiosity they cannot quite name. The first teacher is always your own experience.

What it offers now

For Ramabuddha, kundalini begins as a way of paying attention: to the body, the breath and the energy you already carry. Over time, it shows you where you are truly present, and where you have only been on autopilot.

Conscious and unconscious

Seeing what runs us

Think about the last time you reacted faster than you could think: the sharp reply, the withdrawal, the need to be right. Something in you answered before you did. Much of who we believe we are is built from these quick answers.

Kundalini Awakening

Most of the day runs on habit, and habit has a voice. Kundalini invites you to notice who is speaking, and to listen with curiosity before deciding what to do with what you hear.

Kundalini Awakening

Beneath thought there is a current that moves whether we watch it or not. The practice is simply learning to watch it with patience, and to meet what appears without judging it.

Ego and self

Questions to sit with

This is where the ego likes to live: in the habit of defending an image of ourselves. The self is what remains when we stop defending. Kundalini practice invites you to notice the difference, gently, without turning it into one more thing to fix.

i

Where do I defend an image of myself that I no longer need?

ii

Which pattern repeats in my relationships, my work and my silences?

iii

Who am I when I am not trying to be impressive, or right, for a moment?

You do not need to answer these today. Kundalini makes room for the questions, and the answers tend to arrive on their own, in practice and in daily life.

More than a practice

Observing yourself, with care

Kundalini is often described as a technique. In Ramabuddha's work, it is also a way of looking: noticing your reactions, your habits and the patterns you repeat without seeing them.

The experiences are not about learning a method to follow. They are a space to pause, observe and explore your own inner experience, at your own pace.

“Self-love is the first thing to discover. Methods are tools to learn with, not goals in themselves.” For Ramabuddha

Master Ramabuddha

Yoga, tantra, meditation and kundalini, shared with presence, humor and listening.

Ramabuddha has been exploring yoga, tantra, meditation and kundalini since he was young. He began to meditate as a young man, after noticing a strong energy moving inside him. Instead of pushing it away, he sat with it, observed it and learned from it. That early curiosity about energy is where the kundalini work he shares today began.

Over the years he has spent long periods travelling and studying in India, living and practicing in ashrams and spiritual communities across the country, and time in the Himalayas. Years ago he lived in Pune, near the international Osho centre, where he was deeply influenced by Osho's ideas about freedom, awareness and living without fear of the body. Those ideas stayed with him, along with the work of J. Krishnamurti, whose questions about the mind and freedom still shape how he looks at himself and others.

He does not follow one school. He draws from the Himalayan practices of yoga and meditation, the tantric view of life as energy, Osho's invitation to live fully and without hypocrisy, and Krishnamurti's call to observe without borrowed answers. What connects them, for him, is attention: looking at what is actually happening in the body, the mind and the relationships around us.

For Ramabuddha, kundalini is also a mirror. It shows the patterns we repeat, the ego that wants to be right, and the self we work hard to protect. His work does not begin with a method. It begins with listening. He takes time to know each person, then shapes the kundalini practice around what that person needs, combining meditation, inner observation, energy awareness and conversation. Methods are tools to learn from, not goals in themselves, and he hopes each person makes what is useful their own.

The approach

The Unmasking Path

The Unmasking Path is the self-exploration approach at the heart of the deeper program. It invites you to look beyond the identities, reactions and habits you have learned to live with, so that you can see them more clearly.

It is a way of practicing awareness, not a guaranteed outcome. Each person explores at their own pace, in their own experience.

Presence

Be here for the experience, as it is.

Listening

Start from what each person actually needs.

Respect for the process

Every journey has its own pace.
